A Sense of Thyme
Gardening

Sorry this area is still under construction, please stop back.

boxWhen we moved here three years ago there were no gardens. The first year we cleaned weeds out of the few existing beds and planted the collection of herbs and perennials we had moved with us. We also created some new beds and built a temporary greenhouse for that first winter. Since then, we have added more gardens each year greatly expanded our vegetable growing area to almost an acre. We cleaned out the wooded area that had been a dumping ground for years apparently. We've made our local scrap hauler very happy. There is still more to clean this year. Ron rebuilt the second floor of the old barn on one side. We still need to do the other side, then re-side and re-roof it. The list of our projects goes on and on and we continue to develop and evolve our little piece of paradise.

boxIt's been a cold winter this year, but the greenhouse has done well keeping my plants safe. Ron designs and builds the greenhouses for me. You can just see the frame already up for another greenhouse behind. The plastic should be going on it soon as I'm already running out of room and will need it. I have several cold frames like the one in front which do very well for wintering perennials. They are fairly easy to build and something anyone could do in their own yard to extend their growing season. These cold frames are a great place to start plants, or harden them off in the spring when you don't have room for a greenhouse.

Thank you for visiting, please stop back, I will have information and articles on gardening with herbs and on growing vegetables soon.
